Description: Vintage Northern Pacific Railroad Lantern, Amber Globe Lantern Wonderful find this kerosene Railroad Lantern made by the Dressel Railway Lamp Works of Arlington, New Jersey, United States. This lamp design was patented in 1939 (patent #2157081) and produced by Dressel from the 1940s till the late 1960s when the company was absorbed into the Adams & Westlake Company. This beautiful lantern has an Amber globe, which signifies caution or parked rail car. History, Lasting nearly 107 years, the Northern Pacific Railway was an American Institution. Routed in Lewis and Clark's exploration of the Northwest Territories, President Abraham Lincoln chartered it as the first northern transcontinental railroad on July 2, 1864. The Northern Pacific railroad merged with other railway lines in 1970 to form the Burlington Northern Railroad. Marked, NP Circa, 1940-60s Measures, 9 ¼” tall with handle down, 6” diameter at base. Condition, metal was repainted at some point, globe is in wonderful condition with some super tiny chips on rim. Please see all pictures as they are part of the description.
