Mees Good Very Fine or Better For your World Currency Collection-PCU1419 Details Description: A nice very fine or better banknote from the Netherlands. This is the 19 March 1941 twenty five gulden. The banknote is red and multicolored and depicts a portrait of W. C. Mees, the president of The Netherlands Bank at the time on the front of the note. The back has brown and green geometric design with the serial number and date of issue in black. This particular note has the serial number 016255 and is series KS. It is dated 19 March 1941. The banknote has a water mark within the white rectangular at the bottom left corner depicting Mercury in a winged helmet. The note has two signatures on the front. Please carefully review the scan presented as it is part and parcel of our description. Date: March 19, 1941. Printer: Joh. Enchede en Zonen (JEZ). Size: The banknote measures ~6 1/2" by ~3". I would grade this banknote as a nice very fine or better with all the details being well preserved. The note has several vertical folds and one horizontal fold. It has no pinholes, no graffiti, no tears and no splits. It is lightly soiled but has no objectionable staining. The corners are intact with some rounding and a few minor bumps. The note has some minor bumping along the edges but no major roughness. The note also has a small spot where the top layer of paper was torn suggesting that it was glued to something and this portion was lost when the note was removed (see bottom left corner of the back).
