Description: United Confederate Veterans "A Soldier of Gen'l Forrest" Celluloid This is a Nathan Bedford Forrest celluloid from the United Confederate Veterans reunion period. This is probably the hardest Forrest UCV badge to find out there, and this one is in excellent condition. It consists of a celluloid of Forrest suspended by a red/white/red ribbon and a hanger. The hanger is a simple copper piece with gold gilt and a brass pinback soldered to it. The ribbon is approximately 2" long and 1 1/2" wide, with the red and white colors still being very vibrant. The celluloid of General Forrest is 2 1/8" across, and depicts Forrest as a Lieutenant General in the later years of the war. He is shown in a double breasted frock, his hair beginning to turn gray and his face showing the effects of a long, hard fought war. Even though he shows the effects of the war, there is still a fierce, determined look on his face. It is missing the “A Soldier of General Forrest” celluloid cover that originally covered the Whitehead & Hoag logo on the back. If you collect Nathan Bedford Forrest UCV items, this could very well be the centerpiece of your collection. I only ship within the Continental US Shipping charge includes insurance
