Description: Napoleonic Danish French Influenced Sword Incredibly rare superior officer Danish saber, most likely used during the Napoleonic period or shortly after. The Danes tried to maintain their neutrality during the Napoleonic period but failed to do so after denying the British the use of their fleet. The British fearing their ships would be used against them bombed Copenhagen without a declaration of war and destroyed or captured their entire fleet. This saber was probably made under Frederick’s VI monarchy from 1808 - 1839. Based on the bluing and the French style blade I would argue earlier rather than later. The blade bears the kings crest of Norway-Denmark and the motto “For the King and the Fathers of the Country”. These are rarely sold online specially in this condition. Approximately 30 3/4 inches long blade. Some blade discoloration towards that last quarter of the blade as shown. Slight play with the checkered grip as normal for swords of this age. Everything else tight. Ornate scabbard fits great. Would be a great show piece in any sword collectors home. Shipping price includes insurance up to the value purchased. must be signed for unless buyer specifies not to have insurance which damage is at the buyers risk. Feel free to ask questions.
