Murdering the Message : How Real Journalists Cope with Fake News by Karl...

Description: Murdering the Message : How Real Journalists Cope with Fake News by Karl Suchman. This book is out of print with limited availability. For decades, professional journalists have exposed the stories that bind us as one people through vivid storytelling. They have covered historical times, periods of grief and strife, wondrous triumphs and joy, and the truth that may have been previously hidden. The invention of the internet, social media, and reality-based journalism has given rise to instances of fake news and reports skewed toward a political side to gain readership and monetary gains. Up-and-coming journalists must look to their predecessors who've detailed in Murdering the Message how they discovered their journalistic calling and proceeded to follow this call faithfully, ethically, and factually. These fledglings simply learn from the greats how to become real journalists who avoid bias, follow the basic journalistic principles and standards, and balance themselves on a fine line when covering legitimate news. Using their predecessors as examples, they can educate themselves on how to report the news in this technological age while governing journalism in our current society.About the Author Karl Suchman parlayed his love of sports into a journalism career that spans five decades. He considers himself to be one of the luckiest men alive. At every level, he had successful professional mentors who passed on their knowledge, experience, and most importantly, their passion. Suchman has worked local television stations, radio, network sports, network news, and with the Federal Emergency Management Agency. His first brush with major news came at the tender age of 20, reporting on reaction to Richard Nixon resigning the presidency. In addition, he's played a major role in how networks cover NFL training camps, helped with coverage of many NFL television innovations, and was the lead federal spokesman with the Columbia Shuttle disaster. He also produced the first ESPN Outdoors program as well as countless national youth sports programs. He's won numerous awards, including a national Emmy. Suchman lives in Dallas, Texas, with his wife of over 30 years, Julie Bourk-Suchman, and has a 25-year-old son, Zach, who lives in Kansas City. When not pontificating on journalism, Suchman can be found watching his beloved St. Louis Cardinals or University of Missouri Tigers. Condition is like new. The book has not been read just has some normal wear and a little bent. Shipped with USPS Media Mail. Please message me with any questions. Thank you!
