These faces were initially designed in 1986 by Lori and Floyd Barbee THEY HAVE BEEN SOLD ON THIS EBAY SITE ALONE SINCE 2006Who have we shared these with? Mr. Barbee has shared them for years with fellow Special Education Teacher teachers, parents of his special needs students and used them as art projects for his special needs students. Lori likes to use them for jewelry and to adorn high fire pottery. Children love the easy to read facial expressions and they are great for teaching little children emotions expressed in facial expressions. Graphic and figurals are great for reaching and teaching Autistic children. I have embellished several hundred hand thrown mugs (I am a potter by trade) and vases over the years and then commercially made mugs over the years, but they were first put on our own personal mugs as messages to other family members that we loved them. Nothing like having a cup of coffee out of a kissy lips face. The lips show different feelings. We have made magnets for our local animal shelters and donate them as fund raisers. While we have never sold the rights for anyone else to sell molds to these face forms, we do share molds to some of the face designs to these figurals which were created and belong to the Barbee family. Since the late 90s they have come to stand for Reaching and Teaching Autistic children. Use high fire clay, porcelain, red buff danish white, use polymer clay or air dry clay cellucraft, use any clay that can be pushed into a mold, hold form when taken out and then fired, air dry or bake while still in the mold. This mold will come from a Szabary Barbee original design. There is an array of imaginative ideas for whatever your art needs may lead you..... Please use recommended clays with these molds and do not use caustic resins, do not use injectable molten waxes or metals. (PMC precious metal clay can be used) Do not use soap, do not use porcelain slip that you must pour in the mold as it is too thin, or liquid high fire clay. (the following is for the experienced potter that does mass production high firing which translates into not throwing your own vessels on a potter's wheel but using molds for the actual mugs or vases) You may do your mugs or vases in slip clay, but go to a block high fire clay using that clay to take the impression. After taking your impression from the same high fire clay that you made your slip clay from, attach the figural by the normal method of scoring each piece when they are leather dry and adding clay sledge between the two clays for joining. Then it will be ready for the first bisque firing when bone dry.
