Railway author and photographer John Gruber, along with colleague Brian Solomon, examine the circumstances leading up to the development and inauguration of Hiawatha services, the trains' revered A-class Atlantic and F7 Hudson steam power, the roles played by such famed industrial designers as Otto Kuhler and Brooks Stevens, and the expansion of services through much of the Midwest and eventually to the Pacific Northwest with the renaming of the Olympian.
