It was operated in early 1900’s by Ed and Lizzie Mabry. It was used as a grist mill, lumber mill and water-powered tool shop. Today, It is an public access mill operated by The National Park Service. It is now the most photographed place on the 470 mile parkway. Robert Wood (1889-1979) is known as ‘The Painter of the American Landscape’. Born in England , he worked in the U.S. for almost 60 years. D.A.C. N.Y. Was the Donald Art Company of New York. They made reproductions that were sold in all major department stores between 1940-1984. It became the largest fine art publishing business in the world during that time.
