Giclees are produced using a high-quality inkjet printing process resulting in sharp detail and high resolution. The basic process has been around since the 1980's and are the sign of the times. Michael Young was born in 1952, in Kansas City, Kansas. His interest in art began as a child observing his father Eugene draw and paint in the basement at their home in Lansing, Kansas. At seventeen he enrolled into a two year Commercial Art program in Salina, Kansas. After graduation he found employment at an architectural illustration studio in downtown Kansas City, Missouri. This fortune of luck led him to the understanding of perspective, rendering and scale. He became obsessed and began collecting books and taking portrait lessons. He opened a downtown studio/gallery in Leavenworth, Kansas, but after several years he felt the need to learn the anatomical figure. In 1978 he, and his girlfriend, moved to New York City. There, he studied at The Art Students League, Salmagundi Club, and took private classes with Bill Weltman, a world famous anatomy instructor. He was now confident placing figures in his work in any perspective and his fine art career was set in motion. He soon met his agent Pat Carlson and introduced his work to the national publisher and gallery chain Dyansen, painting mostly in the Art Deco style. Together they produced dozens of lithographs and serigraphs with shows at many fine galleries across the country. Hundreds of works later he slowly developed a strong desire for a break with tradition. His paintings have become experimental and rebellious, undergoing a change in concepts and techniques he calls “Prismatism”.
