If you are just now looking for a replacement cable they have been long discontinued by Mercedes. I haven't even seen a used cable for sale in a long time. The main part that fails is the adjuster piece which breaks at the threads after 50 years in an engine compartment. While it might seem like a poor design by Mercedes it's actually a very good design. Replacing the adjuster piece, instead of the entire cable, also saves lots of labor. This is made from a modern polymer which is much better than what Mercedes had to work with in the 80's. Any threaded fastener combination needs to be made of the same material if they're going to last. This Bowden adjuster design has actually been tried by others in all-metal components but it doesn't work long term for various reasons. Mercedes really did get it right. This adjuster installs in place in about 15 minutes without cutting or separating your cable in any way. The alternative is replacing the whole cable, if you can find one, which requires either a mechanic or a long DIY under the car. Symptoms of a bad adjuster can include the transmission appearing to slip or flare as well as late shifting or early shifting. All of these conditions will eventually cost you a transmission. This demanding part has taken over a year of R&D including months spent testing over 100 design/polymer variants. After the cost to make this + eBay fees + PayPal fees + shipping fees it's barely worth selling online because of all the middle men. Otherwise a direct sale would cost about $68. To protect intellectual property for now the item you receive will look slightly different from the images shown. I did this to help keep these cars on the road. It would be alot easier if Mercedes would just stop discontinuing parts for our older cars but that won't change when they make more selling $2,400+ headlight assemblies for their newer cars. 126 300 1730 126 300 17 30 Shifter detent kickdown passing Free shipping in the U.S. If there's a problem let me know and I'll work with you.
