Description: Up for auction is a Masakage Mizu 150mm Petty. [PLEASE NOTE: Photos have been corrected.] This knife is made with an Aogami #2 carbon steel core wrapped in a reactive iron cladding. Neither steel is stainless, so the blade will eventually patina and does require some care in maintenance. Aogami #2 easily takes and retains very sharp edges. The deep blue/black kurouchi finish resembles deep, cold water, hence the name “mizu,” Japanese for “water.” This line of knives was originally handmade in Takefu Village by master blacksmith Katsushige Anryu, but when Anryu-san retired, Takumi Ikeda took over. This knife is brand new in the box and has never been used or sharpened. Includes good luck coin. Steel: Blue Steel #2 with iron cladding.
