But to longtime Marvel comics fans and collectors, Pratt's hero isn't exactly the same guy readers first met when Star-Lord made his true debut in Marvel Preview Magazine #4 (1976). It's likely for this reason that Hasbro doesn't go out of their way to label their WAL-MART EXCLUSIVE STAR-LORD ACTION FIGURE as a First Appearance character. He's a lot more "comic book-y" and a lot more "spacey" by design, with a touch of camp hidden just below the surface. The "Guardians of the Galaxy" Logo places STAR-LORD within the Marvel Legends' Sub-series and distinguishes it from the Marvel movie line, yet the logo itself implies the action figure was inspired by Star-Lord's appearance in the first ongoing Guardians of the Galaxy (Vol 1) series. This is not factually correct. Indeed, the action figure's costume is indicative of Star-Lord as he appeared in the the latter half of the 1970s', primarily as mentioned in his earliest Marvel Preview Magazine appearances.
