Description: What a find for the lover and collector of Marshall Field and Company items. This is a presentation shoe box that opens like a steamer trunk, from the Shoe Salon at the Chicago State Street store. The color is a dark pistachio green with metallic gold and black and white accents. Please see the natural sunlight photo with red background for best view of the color. Included are the shoes! They are a pair of (tiny!) size 4 1/2 ivory satin pumps with leather sole and heels made for Marshall Field by Aristo. The metal buckles are decorated with tiny rhinestones. I believe these to have been the owner's wedding / bridal shoes. Box measures 10 5/8" x 6 1/2" x 5 1/2". One seam has come apart as shown in the photos but the hinge is fully intact. The colors show signs of darkening commensurate with the age of the cardboard box of approximately 94 years. A fragile silk ribbon that once kept the two halves from opening too widely is now detached at one end as shown. Also included is the original (brittle) cellophane in which each shoe originally was wrapped. I estimate this box to be circa 1930. It was purchased at the estate sale for a woman who died at age 104 in 2014. If she were married at age 20, that would have been in 1930.
