Description: This is a matted, antique engraving, from Harper's Weekly, an illustrated newspaper published in New York in 1863. The prints in this series have text on the reverse, and are printed on what is called rag paper, an antique paper that is stronger and far more long lasting than the newspaper we know today. This is a very nice historical print clearly representative of the Civil War. TITLE: MAP OF THE SOUTHERN STATES, SHOWING THE RELATIVE POPULATION OF SLAVES IN THE DIFFERENT LOCALITIES (See pictures for smaller text) ARTIST: NOT IDENTIFIED CONDITION: EXCELLENT -- The prints in this series are clear, clean, and bright. No folds or tears. A really nice image. Excellent definition. Nice clean, sharp lines. Good margins. (Note: May be very minor, if any, foxing. See pictures.) This engraving is about 160 years old and guaranteed to be original. It is an authentic old print from the aforementioned publication, and NOT A REPRODUCTION.The visible part of the print, including the white border (if any) is about 10" x 15". Matted the print measures 16" x 20". This is a standard size matte that will fit into a standard size frame. No custom framing required.
