Description: With his wings partially outstretched, you can see almost every feather on this gorgeous life size sculpture of our national bird. French sculptor Jules Moigniez captured the fierceness and power in the eagle's eyes and in the way he seems ready to fly off his perch at any moment. Moigniez was highly renowned, known for detail of animals, and exhibited many, many times at the Paris Salon (best in the world). Like many artist of the time, Moigniez died of his own hand. He had been ill for some time. Tragic as it was, his art has benefited from his early death. Appreciation of his genius has steadily increased even further after his death which was well over a century ago. Moigniez was born in 1835, and died in 1894. This exquisite example of his work was produced in the 1870's and measures 34" high x 19" wide. The piece is in wonderful condition for it's age. Enjoy, Blessings, S.O.
