This adapter has no doubler in it so it can't be used with the 1629 tubes. The octal socket is designed for the Russian tubes that have no pin no. 4 but has pin no.6. This is a good way to tell these tubes apart if the number is worn off. Also I have adapters for the 1629 tubes as well. The difference is that there is a voltage doubler in them and there is a different pinout.
