Description: Bechar 003 Lunar Meteorite Slice Feldspathic BrecciaPolished on One Side 15.51 grams Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and P. Carpenter, WUSL) Electron microprobe analyses were conducted on small slices from four separate stones. Although there is some mineralogical and compositional heterogeneity among these pieces, all consist of mineral clasts of calcic plagioclase (predominantly anorthite but also some sodic bytownite), olivine, low-Ca pyroxene and augite within a very fine grained, sparsely microvesicular matrix containing Ti-chromite, troilite, kamacite and minor secondary barite. This is an absolute beautiful piece of our moon! Bechar 003, discovered in Algeria, was part of a significant lunar find, leading to an abundance of stones on the market and making such pieces accessible to collectors everywhere. Despite their availability, each piece remains spectacular. This is a 100% authentic and scientifically verified lunar meteorite. Samples were submitted for classification by P. Allen of ORM, and published in the Meteoritical Bulletin. It comes with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA) card. Please note: scale cube not included. Meteorites are one of the leading sources of scientific evidence that give us an insight into the formation of our solar system. By understanding what meteorites are composed of, how they form and what they have undergone since formation, we are able to paint an increasingly sharper image to answer the biggest question of all, "How did we get here?"
