Description: Presented is a fabulous antique French porcelain vase. This is a piece by Jacob Petit and dates to the mid 1800s. The vase is made in the form of a shallow basket of flowers, with the flowers done in a wonderful raised, three dimensional way. The flowers are very colorful and include roses, morning glories, peonies, and various leaves and buds. The lower portion of the vase is an orange/peach color, with elegant gold gilt decoration, while the upper portion is a delicate sky blue and done in a way that makes it look like cloth, with little pink ribbons on either side. This piece is signed on the underside with the initials JP in underglaze blue, for Jacob Petit. The vase is in great overall condition. There are some losses to the tips of petals on many of the flowers, as is pretty typical with this kind of work, but no flowers appear to be entirely missing, and there are no rim or foot chips. Some wear to the gilding of the rim, but the gilding of the lower body and foot is in great shape overall. This piece measures about 4 3/4 x 4 x 4 inches, LxWxH. -jm Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
