Description: This is a hardcover first edition of THE ILLYRIAN ADVENTURE, the first Vesper Holly novel by Lloyd Alexander, published by E.P. Dutton in 1986. This copy has an intact dust jacket and has been inscribed and signed by the author—see photos. According to the publication page, this is a first printing of the first edition. The inside back flap of the dust jacket says "Reinforced for Library Use." I don't know if this means this hardcover copy is a library edition different from other hardcover editions of this book. Please see the photo of the publication page for details. It has no signs of ever being a library book and appears to have gone right into the hands of a reader after the author inscribed and signed it. This book is in overall quite good condition, with a few minor signs of handling, storage, age, and very light reading. Please see the photos and read the below written description for a full sense of the condition of this book. DUST JACKET Dust jacket is fully intact with no tears. Interior front flap has some denting of top edge. Interior front and back flaps appear to have some minor yellowing or discoloration of white areas around edges. Front cover of just jacket has only slight corner wear and minor superficial surface scuffing from age. Back cover of dust jacket has small dent around bottom left corner, more visible superficial surface denting visible at top edge and one small spot of discoloration near top edge. Back cover of dust jacket has a vertical line of light denting or discoloration, as well as some small, superficial scratches, scuffs, or surface dents. Dust cover spine has some denting of bottom edge. Dust cover spine also has some minor discoloration or denting along rear edge. Only minor denting around the corners of the flaps. Interior of dust jacket has only very slight yellowing or discoloration at edges. CLOTH BOOK UNDERNEATH: EXTERIOR Binding is good and solid. Spine has light denting of bottom edge. Front cover has a small dent in top edge. Front cover has only minor wear to pretty sharp corners. Back cover has only light wear to pretty sharp corners. CLOTH BOOK: COVER INTERIORSCover interiors are off-white. I don't know if this is their original color or if they're slightly yellowed from age. No writing or marks on insides of covers. Covers don't crackle when open, so they have clearly been opened before, but there is no cracking on the end pages along the spine, and the binding is good and solid. CLOTH BOOK: INTERIORTitle page is inscribed and signed by the author: "For Ryan Thoma, with warmest greetings from Lloyd Alexander."Page 12, the opening page of Chapter 2, has a folded-over corner. Pages are off-white. I can't tell if this is their original color or if there is slight discoloration from age. Other than the inscription, I found no other writing, labels, stickers, stamps, or markings inside or on the outside of this book. BOOKMARKInside the book was an E.P. Dutton bookmark advertising other Lloyd Alexander books, probably acquired by the original owner when the book was signed by Lloyd Alexander. One edge is folded and one corner has a fold. I'll include this in the book when I ship it to you. Even with some minor dents and signs of light handling, this is a really nice, solid, SIGNED copy of an already uncommon Lloyd Alexander hardcover. * * * * * I do NOT use stock photos.
