Introduced in 1953, the 2353s were the successors to the 2343 Santa Fe F-3s. The 2353s differed in having no screen roof vents and no front handrails. These locomotives feature a battery operated horn, lights, die cast metal trucks, operating knuckle couplers on the front of both locomotives and fixed knuckle couplers on the rear, magnatraction and metal wheels and axles.
