The booklet measures 11" x 8 1/2". A clear vinyl sheet has been added to protect cover, which is printed in copper, dark blue and black on Natural Skytone Parchtone stock. Lincoln encompasses the communities of: Albion, Ashton, Central Falls, Lincoln, Lonsdale, Moshassuck, Valley Falls. North Smithfield encompasses the communities of: Forestdale, North Smithfield, Slatersville, Union.Smithfield encompasses the communities of: Allenville, Esmond, Georgiaville, Granite Mills (formerly Spragueville), Greenville, Knightsville, Stillwater. The 1878 book excerpts cover the early development of this area, while passages from the WPA book, give a nostalgic glimpse from a later vantage point, including interesting historical notes, especially as they relate to sightseeing possibilities. Among the many and diverse subjects taken from these books are: Physical features, such as the Blackstone River and Woonsocket Hill, and geological traits; Early Settlers and Population Origins; Town organizations; First General Assembly members and other officials; the Poor Department; Military, Police and Fire Dept., including the Lincoln Union Guard and Company C, 5th Battalion Infantry R.I.M.; Mrs. Anthony Gage, a determined "time-keeper"; the Post Office, Banks, Reservoirs, and Newspapers; Transportation; Curious tale of Hearthside, and other notable homes; Businesses, including the Pawtucket Hair-Cloth Co., the American Curled-Hair Co., several cloth mfg. companies, tin and sheet iron mfg, job printing, a scythe-works, the Moshassuck Bleachery, and many others; Secret Societies, with many names included; the Waterman family, the Farnum family and the Hawkins family; Schools and Churches; the well-preserved Eleaszer Arnold Tavern and the Greenville Tavern, meeting place for Patriots; and other interesting bits of history and trivia. There's also an early map of the state, a population table covering the 20th Century, and descriptions of notable homes and other points of interest in the area. The booklet contains two very nice full-page sketches: the residence of Albert Mowry in North Smithfield and St. John's Catholic Church in Slatersville.
