Description: Limoges Hand Painted Alphonse Mucha Style Byzantine Blonde Portrait Plate Nice antique porcelain plate. Decorated with a hand painted portrait after Alphonse Mucha, based on Byzantine Heads: Blonde portrait. Has an acid etched pearl iridescent background and an gold encrusted scrollwork border with blue enamel jewels. Signed by the artist Bauer. Marked on the reverse Haviland France in green. Also marked Jul H Bauer Hand Painted China in red. This is an overglaze decorating mark for Jul Bauer in Chicago and was used between 1910 and 1916. Has some minor wear to the gold, is missing a few of the blue enamel dots in her head dress and has a couple of small scratches to the plate. Measures approximately 9 1/8 inches wide. This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not affect the display of the piece.
