These above are some of the symptoms of Capacitor failure, this kit usually will fix these and all is good, there are no guarantee's ! You can fix it with our repair kit and save your 888LM control Panel. With a good eye or magnifier you may see discoloration from leakage on the capacitor leads, bulging of the capacitor is also a sign of failure. Super capacitors are different than regular capacitors and are like a deep cycle battery, they store an electric charge for a long time. There are reports of capacitor leakage damage on some boards below the capacitors and your circuit board may need more work so using magnifying lens inspect for corrosion to board, solder joints and components and repair as needed. Also there are reports of a copper thru hole circuit connection burned up below the left capacitor which may need to be fixed with a jumper. Certain model MyQ 888LM control panels are failing and they are randomly opening and closing your garage doors without your permission, letting anyone into your garage or home without even being notified.Disconnect the control panel ASAP, remove the 2 thin wires and stop using the keypad. You can temporarily install a push button switch or just short the 2 wires briefly together to open and close the door on some older models of Chamberlain products. Many newer models use a data bus to control the opener and shorting the wires may not open the newer garage openers. Your Liftmaster MyQ app will not even be notified of the garage door cycling. Your control panel is failing and can be running again with this repair kit. The 888LM uses 2 special energy storing Super Capacitors to supply a semi regulated 5 volts to the panel, these capacitors are defective over time and are leaking/shorting internally which fail causing power failure and filtering issues to your control panel and might randomly open and close your garage door and possibly ruin your opener from constant cycling. This kit with some soldering should repair your control panel back to new condition. 2 Special Capacitors will be shipped USPS when purchased. You can not use generic radial capacitors to repair the control panel, these are specifically made to work as a battery. **There are no guarantees that this will fix your issues with your Liftmaster 888LM control panel and we take no responsibility if it does not, 95% of the time this will fix this issue.**After your repairs are completed reinstall your opener control panel and attach the wires, the wires are DC voltage and the positive must be on the correct side, usually Red/White and White are the common colors, Black\white and white are also common, remember to mark your leads, they might be reversed, you must wait up to 5 or more minutes for your control panel to re-link to the Gateway module via the 888LM wireless link, your Red and Yellow lights will be blinking until it is re-linked. If you removed your control panel or tried to reprogram the 888LM when it was failing you may have to delete and reinstall the 888LM to your Gateway module or Liftmaster account again. This is a 2 sided circuit board and is easy to ruin the traces and difficult to remove old components without the right de soldering tools and techniques. Please inspect below capacitors for additional damage from leakage, it has been observed that corrosion damage may be underneath on the components directly below the 2 capacitors, you may need to clean up the corrosion and repair/resolder other components below these 2 Super capacitors, please clean all leakage corrosion with alcohol and a brush, an old clean toothbrush works great for this. Inspect carefully all your solder work carefully.
