LARGE LEAF SABAL PALM TREE 5 FT - HARDY 10 F LANDSCAPE READY FLORIDA GROWN

Description: FALL GREAT TO PLANT NOWLARGE LEAF SABAL PALM5 FOOT TALL - 7 GAL CONTAINERThis is one of our popular young palms we have been successfully selling here on eBay for years. Customers have returned to buy more of our plants and given us great comments on the quality of our palms and our excellent customer service. We have been growing and selling our cold hardy palm trees for over 10 years in Northern Florida. Your palm is accompanied by our detailed information about growing tips so everyone gets a good start with their palms. Our professional methods of packing palms and shipping them in their large growing containers avoids transportation and transplanting shock. Our Sabal palmettos are the most beautiful of the Sabal varieties and known for their very large 6 to 7 foot arched leaves and large diameter trunk with beautiful fibrous characteristics. Compare the photos of our trees with extra large leaves to other Sabal varieties for sale by others that may have short, stocky and smaller leaves. These palms are cold hardy and very healthy 3-year-olds with long leaves and excellent long roots. As newly germinated seeds they were never in a greenhouse or covered during the winter and have survived freezing conditions with no leaf damage. These Sabal Palmettos are vigorous in good and challenging conditions such as droughts and cold. You can grow this palm outdoors as a tropical, or in a container as a pool side or patio plant. The juvenile palms have already been "hardened" to the cold conditions of Zone 8b in northern Florida including germination and then as young blades (liners) in the outdoors under natural conditions. As young palms, they survived many days and nights way below freezing and not covered without any leaf damage. Our palms went through one of the worst low temperature events in December 2022 where there were 5 consecutive days below freezing temperatures around 21-25 deg F. Our young and mature sabals came through these extreme conditions vigorous and healthy without having any added protection. We hand pick the seeds from the sabal trees and grow them at our family-owned nursery in North Florida. We have attached the photos of the trees used for harvesting seeds. Compare the photos of our trees with 4 - 7 ft leaves to other Sabal varieties for sale by others that may have short, stocky and smaller leaves. Sabal Palms look very interesting when planted in a group of three - see clustered snow photo from northern location showing their cold hardy nature (photo credit unknown). Our parent Sabal palm pictured by our office driveway beside the chain link fence is not just luscious but is very tough. When this tree was a juvenile (see photo), it was cut down several times and paved over but it survived growing through asphalt! The seedlings were also able to grow through 2 inches of asphalt! This is one of the hardy palms our nursery is proud to offer - the most beautiful and lush variety of Sabal palms that can flourish in good or harsh conditions. An interesting note about this palm tree is that it has edible parts that are used for food and the Native Americans valued this variety. The sweet blossoms are used to make a dark honey. The dark blue fruit is abundant and tastes a bit like prunes. The seeds can be ground to make a flour-like meal for bread. The heart of the palm and the center core of the trunk is also used, but that of course requires killing the tree. If you are preparing for hard times in the future then this palm tree is a good one for survival food!! Here are some Sabal Palmetto characteristics: Very Large Fan-Shaped Leaves Easy to Grow - Mature 20-30 feet Cold and Heat Tolerant Grows in Wide Range of Soil Types Salt Tolerant Full Sunlight to Shade Water Very Adaptable - Drought Tolerant Spineless Trunk Note: Texas shipments of Sabal Trees aren't allowed due to costly phyto-certifications set forth in agricultural rules. Also there are high surcharges because Florida State Official has to be present when we treat trees.Backyard Paradise Incredible Guarantee: We want you to enjoy your plants without worry and we send only the best healthy plants to ensure your success. We will give you the best customer service with our no hassle policy. You have a one year guarantee and we will replace your plants free - you pay postage. We are only shipping plants on Mondays because of summer heat or winter freezes and we don't want the plants sitting in a truck/warehouse over the weekend. Our standard handling time can be as much as 15 days for special circumstances, but most palms are shipped before that time. If your plant arrives damaged then you must send photos of the box and plant immediately. The plant height includes the roots in the container. We are no longer able to ship to Hawaii, Alaska or International countries due to the time it takes for Customs to release the package for delivery. Your PayPal payment must clear before we can ship.
