Description: Circa1944 - 1957KPM Feldblume (Wild Flowers) One Place Setting Estate FindWe offer one place setting, six pieces total, of the Feldblume Gold Trim with Insects pattern manufactured by KPM in Germany. Each place setting is comprised of a dinner plate, salad plate, bread plate/bowl, tea cup and saucer, and large soup bowl. The bread plate is not flat but a shallow concave shape. The dinner plates, salad plates, bread plates/bowl, tea cups and large soup bowls are marked with the red orb KPM symbol and the blue scepter "S" (Selb) mark and "MADE IN GERMANY US ZONE" in green which identifies production from 1944 to 1957 in Selb, Germany before the Berlin factory was rebuilt after destruction in 1943 during World War II. The saucers are marked with the red orb KPM symbol and the blue scepter mark. The dishes were designed by Trude Petri in 1938 when she brought a Bauhaus influence to several new shapes for KPM. The Feldblume (Wild Flowers) pattern was designed as a simplified version of seventeenth century pewter plates using a wide rim. In 1940, Gerhard Gollwitzer added embossed flowers and insects to the wide border. The dishes were available to order in four variation: solid white, white with a gold trim, white with gold trim and the insects also in gold trim, and white with flowers and insects hand painted in pastel colors. All decorated pieces are individually painted and signed by the artists' mark. The dinner plate measures 10 3/8" in diameter, the salad plate measures 7 7/8", the bread plate/bowl measures 6 7/8" and the large soup bowl measures 9 7/8" and 1 1/2" in height. The tea cup measures 4 1/8" in diameter with overall width of 4 3/4" to handle. The saucer measures 6" in diameter.
