Description: Item : This evocative landscape painting was done by Karl O'Lynch (1869-1942). It shows a landscape in Tuscany Italy near Volterra, an 8th century mountain top village. The village is just visible at the top of the cliff. The painting is oil on canvas. It measures 19 3/4" by 26 1/2". With frame, it measures 24 1/2" by 31". This painting has crackling in the dark paint of the cliffs. There is also a tiny pin hole in the cloud area and a flake of the paint in the tree. There is an impression of the frame in the canvas along all four sides. The frame has loss of paint. This painting is in all original condition. It is unsigned. It came out of a local estate here in Arizona with another one of Karl's paintings. From 1904, he was a member of the Hagenbund.He is mainly known for his marine paintings and often spent time on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea.
