Description: An Italian landscape with ruins and young donkey driver and his dog by old master engraver Claude-Henri Watelet (French, Paris 1718–1786). It is a copperplate engraving printed in black ink on fine old laid paper and the subject is after a painting by Karel Dujardin (Dutch 1622-1678), catalogue reference is; LeBlanc 70. It is signed in the lower right of the plate - Watelet, but also on the wall above the boy's head as if graffiti - K. Du Jardin P., W. Sculp, and dated 1750. The print measures 9 1/2 x 10 inches, with trimmed margins, very fine condition.
