Description: Here's a well-used keepsake of an old Kankakee institution, The Daily Journal. The base itself reads "Kankakee Journal 1977" though I'm not sure when or if the paper ever officially used such an abbreviation. The plastic base is in good condition with a tiny dent in the upper left corner. Surprisingly, the foam on the underside is in pretty good shape after 45+ years! The pen barrel is a bit more problematic, with some ink spots toward the writing end, a couple of barely-visible fractures on the upper barrel section that screws on to the lower barrel, and the inevitable indentations on the non-writing end of the barrel where the user likely chewed on it while considering what next word or phrase to employ. The set is an ever-so-slightly off-white color. The etched drawing of the building is in silver with red bricks and awnings, brown tree trunks and green leaves. There is no Sheaffer pen cartridge in the barrel.
