Description: Joichi Hoshi "Early Spring" Woodblock Print 1974 Joichi Hoshi (1913-1979) was a Japanese printmaker best know for his depiction of trees, often leafless and sometimes incorporating gold or silver into the layers of the woodblock print. This beautiful print depicts a white tree on a mostly blue-green background. Hoshi's works may be found in the collections of the National Museum of Art in Tokyo, The Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Art Institute of Chicago, as well as many others prestigious museums. This work is signed in pencil in the lower right and dated '74. There is a red chop mark above on the print. This print is in excellent condition having been purchased by seller in 1974 in the frame. The frame does have some nicks and scratches as shown in the photos. New owners may want to have the art reframed in a frame of their choice. The artwork measures 8"x11", the frame 13 1/2"x16 1/2".
