Description: This is a rare single page advertising handbill (flyer) promoting the Original Off-Broadway production of the MARK HOLLMANN and GREG KOTIS musical comedy "URINETOWN" which played the American Theatre of Actors (Chernuchin Theatre) in New York City. (The production opened May 6th, 2001 at the Chernuchin Theatre and played 58 performances. Plans to transfer to Broadway were interrupted by the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001. Originally scheduled to open on September 13th, 2001 at Henry Miller's Theatre, the official opening was delayed until September 20th, 2001. The League of American Theatre and Producers announced on September 12th that Broadway marquees would likely be re-illuminated on September 13th as part of New York's return to normalcy. A spokesman for Urinetown said that if Broadway productions resumed on September 13th, so would Urinetown, but the official opening would be announced later, as critics had not yet been able to see the show.
