Description: John Charles Moody (British 1884-1962). Original Drypoint Etching, "Charmes", 9-1/4" x 13-1/4" image size (framed size: 20-1/2" x 23") titled and numbered in pencil lower left: Charmes 23/75 and signed in pencil lower right: John C. Moody. Condition: Frame nicks and scratches, not viewed out of frame and viewed through glass appears to have toning. We'll plan to leave the glass on. Ships in frame with the glass for $32.00. If you want us to ship flat in the mat and discard the frame and glass, we can ship for $22.00 flat in the mat. Painter, printmaker and teacher, born in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey. He studied art in London and in several centres on the continent, eventually becoming principal of Hornsey School of Art, 1926–47. Was president of SGA and Society of Sussex Artists, in 1954. Exhibited at RA, RI, RE, ROI and Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts, as well as provincial, continental and American galleries. His work was exquisite and academic, mainly of architectural subjects, although he was fond of nature study watercolours. Moody’s coloured drawings are reminiscent of the work of George Clausen.
