Description: One of Joe gagan's most famous designs! this is a demo unit from 2020, inventory reduction time. features a classic mid '80s Dunlop gloss splatter finish, this is the donor shell. standard at the is price is all black, normal famous JOE-SONIC musonic/ colorsound inspired wah circuit. inspired by the classic, unique, vocal & musical sweep of the 70s colorsound / musonic wahs. musicians have told us that their favorite vintage wah they ever owned was a 70s colorsound. and for good reason: they have a unique throaty sound and bright 'squish' in the top end that is unlike any other wah. NOT JUST a crybaby or vox clone, the colorsound was a derivative of the early Marshall Supa Wah, a British take on the wah - quite different from the vox clones in many ways. -also, the engineers used a nylon hoop mechanism and linear taper pot, we have finally replicated this feel! PROBLEM: a lot of the originals are very worn out. the shell was a tin can, often, the axle holes get gored beyond any hope of precision, and the original weak pots are usually worn and scratchy. solution! now, we have duplicated and improved this circuit for present day RELIABLE use. ROAD , stage or studio tough. we have rebuilt, modded and restored 400+ vintage wahs. among these were many colorsounds and musonics ( US made version of same circuit). we have measured , played, and experimented for 3 years to perfect this circuit. colorsounds are famous for their awesome musical sweep. a '70s bonanza of wah delight! this wah has it. features: -red fasel inductor, revoiced and modded by gagan for a more authentic re-creation of the 70s originals. -trubypass. -Quality mini DPDT bypass switch, pop resistant input ground wiring. -NOS hotpotz1 wah pot for classic quacky feel. -Special "body" pot tucked under treadle for complete control of mids. perfect for setting to any guitar or rig. ~NEW gagan V2 PCB, but now using real REAN/ neutrik full metal jacks, the old switchcraft style but with better wafers. - internal 3 way dip switch for frequency select. 7 possible combos, , regular, deep , deeper and many in between. marked from our shop with our preferred joe-sonic setting. ( 1 & 3 "ON", 2 'off') -3 trimpots: marked with our preferred setting so you can always get back to the original tone 1. input volume, (vol 1) 2. out volume ( vol 2) 3.bias -these make the wah fully adjustable for volume matching and full growl. this allows you to tailor the response to any pickups or guitar, bass ,etc. ~~~anything from stock colorsound sweetness all the way to funkified nasty growl ( and many in between!) , all available in the settings. feel free to contact us anytime for help in setting these if needed, we love to talk wahs. -special vintage low gain silicon transistor in the critical Q1 spot specially selected for correct '70s low gain- no more harsh highs. -expensive metallized poly and other high quality caps in key tone path locations. -standard 9V power jack for use with power supply, also uses 9v battery with high quality clip. -BONUS! unique output arrangement in this circuit works EXCELLENT going into any fuzz without the need for crappy buffers, which in our opinion ruin classic wah tone. warranty, 5 years on all parts, lifetime on assembled labor. **hear this actual circuit, - or search youtube for " JOE-SONIC WAH ", many will come up. featuring our cheerful 30-day love it or return for full refund guarantee tuning notes: set controls in this order: 1. bias. should be near full CW for vintage colorsound tones. adds low end when fully CW. 2. body ( this sets the mids. stock is 1/3 up from full CCW ) 3. Vol 2. this adds a lot of low end near the last 1/4 of CW. 4. vol 1. match your bypass tone , or set a little higher like some players prefer. dipswitches are progressive, stock is # 1 only a little deeper is 1 & 3 on, next deep is 1 & 2 on, deepest is 1,2,3 all on. thinner than stock is 2 & 3 on, super thin is # 2 only. the above is good if the growl factor is already where you like it. if you want more or less growl than my stock tuning, set the BIAS before changing the dipswitches. set gain AFTER Bias, and VOL last for overall volume setting. handy tip: there is a unique treble bleed in the input section. similar to a treble bleed on the guitar volume special note on spectrum enhancement using the treble bleed function: to activate MORE treble bleed, turn gain DOWN and pre VOL UP. this lets more highs sneak in around the gain trimmer, straight to the circuit. it adds more spectrum to the entire range,it isn't just for more treble. one possible downside is, with high gain going INTO wah, you may hear too much high end in your heel down wahing. the gainy signal blasts through the treble bleed like a ram with all that signal.
