This COIN Silver (.900), Genuine STORMY MOUNTAIN Turquoise & RED CORAL Bracelet measures 6 1/4" inner circumference with a 1 1/2" gap. The settings have beautiful craftsmanship around the Stones. The Bracelet is HANDCRAFTED & weighs over 25 grams! STORMY MOUNTAIN: The Stormy Mountain turquoise mine in Elko County, Nevada was discovered in the early 1970s while bulldozing a new road to an old copper mine. The mine is located on the south side of Swales Mountain, northeast of Carlin, and is sometimes called the Edgar Brothers mine. The mine produced high-quality, hard, medium to dark blue turquoise with black chert flecks that resembled storm clouds, giving the mine its name. The veins in the best grades could be up to one inch thick. The Edgar family worked the mine with a bulldozer in the 1960s and 1970s. The mine is similar to the Blue Diamond and McGinness Mines in that it produces turquoise with a blotchy, sometimes angular black matrix. The Blue Diamond mine produced stones that were large and plate-like, and some say it yielded some of the best turquoise in Nevada. However, the Blue Diamond mine has been closed for many years and the turquoise is now very rare. Today, a gold mining company owns the property and it's not expected to produce turquoise again in the near future. The turquoise from the Stormy Mountain mine is rarely seen today. RED CORAL:Red coral, or Corallium secundum, has been used for thousands of years for ornamental purposes and as a commercial asset. It's been revered by cultures around the Mediterranean because it represents all three kingdoms of nature (animal, vegetable, and mineral) and doesn't perish when brought to the surface. Red corals were the underwater forests of the Mediterranean and used to be called the red tree. Today, their former forest-likes structure have been overexpoited and resemble low-relief grass plain-like habitats due to the cycle of discovery, exploitation and depletion of colonies. Item Details: Genuine STORMY MOUNTAIN Turquoise, RED CORAL & COIN Silver (.900) = 900/1000 LEGEND: Sterling Silver: .925 silver Nickel Silver: This used to be named German silver, and silversmiths have used it for the last century for making jewelry. It contains no actual silver and many buyers prefer it over sterling because it does not tarnish and has a shinier look. Genuine Turquoise: Real turquoise stone, although it may be stabilized to protect it. Block Turquoise: Again, this has been used by artisans for decades. It is created in a laboratory and sold to silversmiths by jewelry supply stores in large blocks, hence, the name, block turquoise. Other stones that are made in blocks will described as such. Pawn Jewelry: Jewelry that has been pawned by the owner to a pawn shop, usually in New Mexico. OLD Pawn is jewelry that is vintage or older and was pawned, then acquired by someone else from the pawn COIN (.900) Silver: .900 Silver is the same quality used in production of vintage/old coins (not old as in age).
