Description: Unframed woodblock print in the sosaku hanga style in excellent condition from Yasushi Omoto #59/80. Yasushi Omoto was born in 1926 in Hokkaido. His education and career as an artist was delayed by the Pacific war. He served in the Japanese army, but survived and began to study arts after the war. Yasushi Omoto graduated in arts from Meiji University in 1951. One of his teachers was Fumio Kitaoka, an artist very close to the sosaku hanga art movement. Yasushi Omoto joined the artist association Nihon Hanga Kyokai as a member in 1973. He had exhibited with this group since the 1950s. In the 1980s the artist went to the USA for demonstrations of the old Japanese woodblock printmaking technique. Main subjects of his print works are landscapes and nature scenes. Yasushi Omoto died in 2014.
