Fuji”. The publishing house was the famous Uchida Bijutsu Shoten and were printed between 1939 and 1941 in Oban format. This is a rare series since few were sent to the United States because of war tensions. This particular pint No. 26 is highly sought after. The print is signed with a date seal and is in its original matt as I found it. Tokuriki Tomikichiro (1902-1999) was born and raised in Kyoto and was influenced by the local art scene. He stayed in Kyoto his entire career and was a leader of Kyoto Sosaku Hanga. Graduated from the Kyoto City School of Fine Arts and Crafts and then from the Kyoto City Specialist School of Painting. He found his calling in the reemergence of Japanese woodblock prints in the 20th century. He influenced and developed new artists later in his career and set up his own publishing company Matsukyu. His works are displayed in important museums around the world. This piece is bright and in original condition. It will need to be framed to be displayed.
