Description: Gorgeous print by James Eads, “The Plateau, Forever Ago”. 30x20 giclee print with 3 additional layers screen printed on top. Last two photos employ a small black light to highlight the invisible UV reactive screen printed layer. The original timed edition long ago sold out, and last of the AP edition is currently on sale at James’ site for $350. From James Eads: On the process: The Plateau was originally created in late 2018 on a 60" x 30" panel with gouache and was inspired by the poem below. The piece was then professionally photographed and scaled to print size. The edition is then printed in our studio on a high quality printer and finished with three screenprinted layers. The first layer is done with a gold metallic shimmer that accents the rays of light and the clouds above the Plateau. The second layer is an invisible aqua ink that can absorb the sunlight and glow in the dark to reveal a moon in a starry sky. These accents can also be seen under UV/Blacklight (small blacklight flashlight included with each print). The final layer is done by hand applying triple 24K gold leaf on both the left and right side of the print. During the screenprinting process a 6" emblem in the bottom border is created from the three layers. Prints are then hand deckled and signed and numbered Note that this poster specifically is an MP I recieved in a mystery tube from James Eads. Thus, while still signed, it is not part of the numbered 1st edition run of 200. Further, it did not come with the black light flashlight mentioned in the original description. Upon my close inspection I do not see any printing errors that would make me think this is a misprint. The deckled edges look great as well. Interestingly you can faintly see underneath the MP label that this was initially numbered out of 200 but was later erased and marked MP. My best guess is that this was originally part of the 1st edition and was then returned to James Eads for some other reason, then the studio decided they needed to mark the returned item as an MP. To my eyes this print is flawless. While this print did not come with the black light, it did still come with the 6x9 COA on marbled paper including the poem that inspired the original piece. Since I purchased this from the studio via a mystery tube (I think in 2020), it has been stored flat under Mylar in my flat file storage cabinet. Will ship this rolled up in craft paper in a sturdy cardboard tube. I will be listing a bunch of other prints as I am cleaning out my flat file storage to help pay for some recent expenses. Lots of fat birds, and some prints from Ken Taylor, James Eads, and more! I am also on expressobeans as “kylej” you can check my available prints there as well. Will combine prints etc if interested in multiple.
