Description: Jack Sonenberg BFA (1925 – 2012)A prominent Canadian American painter, printmaker, sculptor and educator, Professor Jack Sonenberg was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He moved to New York City in the early 1950s and became a U.S. citizen in 1958. He appears to have lived in New York for most of the rest of his life. His works have been featured in exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art (New York), the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and the National Gallery of Art (Washington, D.C.). He was a Winner of the Guggenheim Fellowship 1973. His paintings, prints and sculptures are in numerous important museum collections including the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Museum of Modern Art (New York), the National Gallery of Art. He began teaching at the Pratt Institute in New York City in 1973. Wrote influential documents against the Vietnam War. Editor of Artists and Writers Protest Against the War in Vietnam: Poems in 1967. This delicate appearing woodcut image measures approx 28" x 19" on paper that is approx 34" x 22 1/2".
