Description: Another lamp listing I have is for this JA Whaley bronze base with a signed International Shade Co Springfield Mass on the crossbar of the leaded shade. I decided to sell the Whaley "peacock feather" bronze base alone, as a lamp base & not sell the waterlily shade. This rare Whaley bronze base has a good value & demand from antique lamp collectors for lower price than my listing with the lamp with waterlily shade. If either of these 2 listing sells, I have to remove the other lamp listing as it will no longer corresponds to the description in the listing. This very rare JA Whaley bronze base was cast & produced around 1906. This peacock feather base was made to accommodate one of JA Whaley's best quality shades is reason there are not many of these in existence. Base is 24.5" high and because of the height can proportionally accommodate a Whaley leaded glass shade that has a width of 18" to 24" in diameter. The original JA Whaley socket cluster is not original to the base, instead has a double socket cluster with a dark brass extension tube that rises to the height of 24.5" high. All a collector has to do, to use the base with this double socket cluster, is buy a reducer lamp extension threaded nipple so an appropriate bronze width shade rest, can be purchased to fit atop the brass tube extension. The shade rest has to be purchased, for the proper width of the shade's aperture crown ring, in the opening of the shade, with shade rest being the platform, to hold the shade in place - a finial may have to be another expense, to screw the shade onto the shade rest. The result will add value to the shade as well as beauty. I will include the finial that is used currently to fasten the shade to the base. I find that shipping USPS priority mail is best bet, that this base boxed up, will arrive to you unharmed. Insurance of amount paid is included in the shipping and handling cost. Your choice to buy the Whaley base alone or choose my other listing, that includes the attractive period waterlily shade. I have reduced the price for the lamp with shade with Buy it Now or Best Offer available or buy the base alone, to acquire a great bronze JA Whaley bronze peacock feather base, that will increase the value with a nice Whaley shade. This base alone is priced very reasonable for a Buy it Now option only. This Whaley bronze base is highly in demand by collectors of authentic antique lamps & is guaranteed this base will continue to rise in value because of it's rarity.
