Description: A timely rendering of two nurses seeking respite on healing hospital grounds during WWI. This gouache is signed Ernest Procter, and dated either 1918 or 1919, difficult to determine. There is illegible writing on the lower right side of the painting in the margin. Ernest Procter ( British, 1885-1935) was born into a Quaker family, and served with the Friends Ambulance Unit at Dunkirk from April 1916 -Feb 1919.
