Description: I do not normally Hype condition on older Antiquarian Books… but, Simply put, you’ll not find another TRULY complete 1st American Edition in this good of All-Around Condition. I say “Truly” because this book comes with 3 folded up maps, stored in the pouches built into the back covers… most people here on eBay that are claiming complete, only have 2 of these maps. Careful with that. There is minimal wear on the spines and covers. The green is still rich and the gold gilt lettering is still bright. The spines/binding (while this can’t be seen from photographs) are TIGHT as the day they were made. I don’t say this lightly. There’s is no wiggle to the spine. No loose pages. No Foxing of pages. There’s hardly even any toning of the pages (just a tiny bit along the edges. And Again, ALL 3 maps are present (shown in photos). The only slight issue of note is ripping of the endpapers along the seams inside each cover (some worse than others.. example shown in last photo). Structurally this wasn’t an issue… the boards were still firmly attactched… but I decided to apply some good, professional Book-binding glue anyways, in the interest of “Future-Proofing” the books. The maps, while fragile along the folds, are all in one piece with they’re colors vibrant and unfaded. They clearly were just left sitting in the back cover pouches, untouched for many a years. There’s no mold or smoke odors. These books came from the same personal collection as the 4 Volume Fine Binding “Sir Walter Scott’s Waverley Novels” currently listed in my store. This gentleman took exceptional care of his books. Everything was Mylar protected in a climate controlled room. I removed the Mylar to take better photos, but they will come shipped with the Mylar jackets. Trust me when I say, You will be able to read these books cover to cover without fear of pages coming loose, or moldy funk bothering your sinuses. If condition matters in your collection, this is the copy you want. I wish I could use more than 24 photos in a single listing to showcase more of the 150 illustrations and maps… but I decided to use those photos to visually showcase the condition best I could. Please see all photos to determine exact condition and feel free to reach out with any questions you might have. I never use stock photographs. There’s is never a “Bait and switch”… you will always receive the exact items (whether books, jewelry or other random items) shown in the listing. And as always, Rest assured that your items will come VERY well packaged to ensure no damage during transit. I Do Not Skimp On Shipping Materials. They will absolutely get to you in the exact condition shown in the listing.
