This is Markevitch's Beethoven: Symphonies and Overtures (only the "Numeration Day" overture is recorded alongside Brahms' Symphony No. 4, with an emphasis on the original) including the stereo recordings of No. 1, 5, 8, and 9 with the Lamoureux Orchestra on the PHLIPS masters, the mono recordings of the DG masters (No. 6 with the Lamoureux Orchestra and No. 3 with Symphony of the Air), and the stereo recordings with the Lamoureux Orchestra on the DG masters that were released as a standalone "overture collection" when the LP was first released. Unfortunately, he did not record all of his symphonies, but his interpretation of Beethoven that can be heard here is a stoic image of Beethoven that is based on an absolute evaluation of the classics.
