There is a hand carved incredibly detailed lion, elephant, and 2 giraffes eating leaves off of trees. The piece is edged with beautiful carved border swirls around the entire circular piece of woodThis sculpture is museum quality- the tool marks are very beautiful and varied.These pieces are getting harder and harder to find, and this Art carving in particular is fabulous. There is a depth of field and dimensionality to the piece that is not often seen. The animals truly look like they could step right out of the wood!An heirloom piece, stunning Back of piece is signed with 3 carved initials- DSA/ there are tiny hole marks in the back which would correspond to perhaps tabletop legs being attached, long since removed. The holes are very shallow/minor and there is no splitting or cracks near them. Photographed in indoor and outdoor lighting to highlight the beauty of the wood Excellent Condition No chips, no nicks, no cracks, no repairs. Color of wood is very deep dark brownish red, with a very nice sheen and the patina of age.This is a piece that will look stunning on display and would make a beautiful addition to any Art collection.
