Description: HOWARD DIETZ Typed letter, 1 page, 7 1/4" x 10 1/2", October 21, 1949, New York City, on his engraved 1540 Broadway letterhead to actor Clifton Webb in Beverly Hills, with four line holograph postscript and stamped andpostmarked envelope Dietz suggests a book title relating to Webb's Mr. Belvedere personna,as well as an article for "Woman's Home Companion." Condition: very good Howard Dietz was an American publicist, lyricist and librettist. He began a longassociation with composer Arthur Schwartz when they teamed up for the Broadwayrevue The Little Show in 1929 and would continue to work on and off over the next 30 or so years. The Band Wagon (1931), At Home Abroad (1935), Jennie (1963) toname a few. In 1942, Dietz was made MGM's Vice President in Charge of Publicity,a position he held until his retirement in 1957.
