Holton Farkas H177 Double Professional French Horn

Description: For sale is this excellent Holton H177 professional double horn! This instrument has been professionally owned and maintained. It plays beautifully with a huge, sparkling, open sound. Everything is working perfectly. The slides all move as easily and the rotors move well - recently restrung. Cosmetically the horn is excellent for its age. I would say 8.5 out of 10. The nickel silver plating is in her good condition overall with only minor scuffs and surface scratches from normal use (mostly inside the bell). Included is a leather hand wrap, which has been used with the instrument to protect it. There are a couple small dings which are barely noticeable, and a slight bend in the bell, which have tried to show in the photos (this could be easily removed by a good tech, if desired, but does not affect sound). Overall the instrument looks fantastic. The instrument comes with the original hardshell case in good, sturdy condition. The outside shows some scuffs and wear from age, and some numbers from some point in its past. The inside is clean and free of smells. It protects the instrument well. I picked this up to teach with and have never ended up personally used it. I briefly loaned it to a friend of mine who was a graduate student, and a hs student of mine who was an Allstater. Otherwise it hasn’t been played much in the last 10 years. The equivalent new horn from Holton is well over $4,500. This is a great chance to save some money on an incredible instrument.
