It is sometimes uniform (all same color) but usually has a two tone of sap and heartwood, however each sheet is very different. Expect it to be the species stated and have an open mind when it comes to this veneer. Wood backer is an alternative to paper backer and better at covering minor imperfections in surface and not as sensitive as paper backer. Less risk of bubbling though paper backer works fine when adhered properly. Ships in long narrow box with application instructions. These are usually taped or repaired in some manner and shouldn’t impact overall quality or satisfaction. There may also be some minor wood filler used to fill cracks and other crevices that may exist. Wood products are rarely perfect and some consideration of that may be needed occasionally since this is a natural product and is rarely ever perfect. Some sanding is usually required before finishing to prepare the surface for a finish and occasionally to remove veneer tape, splice glue, or some other imperfection.
