Description: Hanwei - Naginata Paul Chen Hanwei - Naginata Paul Chen The Naginata, the famous weapon of the Sohei (warrior monks) of medieval Japan, was a fearsome weapon in the hands of a skilled fighter and remains of great importance in martial arts today. Paul Chens Naginata, while retaining its traditional qualities, has been adapted to the needs of martial artists who train with sharp weapons. The leaf of the Naginata was forged in 1065 carbon steel faithful to the original and hardened on the edge, traditionally in a layer of clay. The blade is attached to a long spike to provide better shock absorption and has a strong distal cone for better balance and speed. The finely engraved tsuba shows a silver butterfly motif. The one-piece rod (Ebu) is extremely stable and has a teardrop-shaped section to recognize the direction of the blade and a non-slip black surface for better control of the weapon. The Naginata comes with a wooden sheath and a cloth cover. Details: Sheet material: T10 carbon steel. Total length: approx.195 cm. Sheet length: approx.51.4 cm. Handle length: approx.141 cm. Weight: approx.2098 g. Sheet thickness at stop: approx.8 mm.
