It is machine stitched, and free motion quilted. I used a low loft batting to keep it less bulky and the free motion quilting keeps all 3 layers stabilized and gives the quilt a bit of visual charm. The free motion quilting was done free hand with my machine, I do not have a computerized one so the lines will not have a consistent pattern which gives it a unique flair to it and add to the homemade feel to it.
