Description: This Hand painted, Peter Hunt Style, Antiqued, 2 1/2" x 3" Small Wooden Trunk Is A Decorative Collectible. Peter Hunt was a self taught painter who created the American version of European peasant folk art. He described his style of folk art as " the art of untudored people who created beautiful pieces from whatever material was readily at hand." Settling in Provincetown, MA, his distinctive brightly colored art consisted of simple to paint decorations. People, animals, fish and fruit all had a naive look created with simple brush strokes. Taking used furniture, he created works of art with his technique of painting. His "twist" on the Pennsylvania Dutch style of art brought to America by German immigrants, was bright, colorful and popular. Teaching classes in his studio, he exposed many students to his process, thus his tradition continued after his passing. Highly collectible, these decorative accessories blended with Country to Formal interior design. This small, wooden trunk, was recreated in the Peter Hunt style. Crackled, painted and antiqued, each one takes approximately 7 hours to finish. Because of the artistic process, no two are alike. Recreated by a formally trained artist, the bottom is signed and dated. Base color of the trunk in photo is off white. Please examine the photos as they are part of the description. U. S. Shipment only.
