Description: These Henry Taylor Hamlet spindle roughing gouges are used for detailed shaping between centers on parallel grain, particularly for concave curves. These spindle gouges can be used to create beads, coves and other profiles on vases, goblets, candle sticks and more shaped work. Spindle roughing gouges are used for taking the corners off uneven and square stock, leaving it round and ready for further turning. They will also make initial shaping cuts removing waste quickly and efficiently. They are designed for between center spindle work and should never be used for bowl turning. The blades are made from the extremely stable M2 high-speed steel, known for its exceptional edge-holding ability. The ergonomic handles, made from dark-stained European beech, are paired with solid brass ferrules. All Hamlet Craft Tools are manufactured in Sheffield, UK, by Henry Taylor Tools. Henry Taylor Tools has been crafting a wide range of hand-crafted edge tools for over 185 years, employing traditional methods, modern technologies, and the finest steel. Hamlet Craft Tools are exceptional quality tools at a competitive price point and are particularly valued by professionals within the woodturning community.
