Pond opened a retail store in or near East Berkshire, VT in 1880 and was very active in the community. In 1881, he built a horse barn next to the store for his patrons. In the same year, there was an “ice cream festival” hosted in the hall above the store. In Oct. of 1884, the hall “was being put in reddinest as a roller rink” He was also involved in farming - producing maple sugar on his farm at "Pond Hill". In 1886, he shipped 1,500 pounds of it to California. I have offered 100's of billheads from his wholesale purchases to stock his store - this piece is from a retail sale at his store. A very large clean center vertical fold crease is nearly fully detaching - a tape repair on the reverse would likely go unnoticed. Showing barely any signs of wear and handling consistent with its age. Expected fold creases from posting. No tears, other fold creases or any other major issues. Eye-catching header typeface / font. Will display well in your collection. Overall, in good to very good condition. You will receive the exact billhead shown in the photos.
